During their most recent term on the field, Pat served as the president of the Assembly Bible College (Botswana). He is involved in regular ministry throughout the remote areas of the Kalahari Desert.

Numbers of students from Assembly Bible College have been planting churches and pursuing a spectrum of ministries.

Pat has served as associate and senior pastor stateside prior to missionary appointment. Their family served a term in Cameroon where they planted several churches. He pastored an African church as well as an international church, in the city of Yaounde.

Pat and Brenda Mahar and their two children, Marissa and Marco, have been missionaries in Africa since 1994. Brenda is the daughter of long time missionaries to Africa, Dave and Maryann Vespa.

Since the beginning of the Mahar's ministry, they have labored in several areas. They have been involved in Bible College administration and teaching, however, Pat's first love is church planting and evangelism. Pat says, "There is nothing like witnessing someone coming to Christ and seeing demon-possessed individuals delivered through the power of Jesus Christ..
