Human
Trafficking
Human
Trafficking is Modern Day Slavery!
God has called us to
fight Human
Trafficking in Europe.
This criminal enterprise is ranked by many as the second largest and
fastest
growing crime in the world just behind drug trafficking. According to
the
United Nations, 2.3 million people, mostly women and children, are
kidnapped,
sold, and tricked into this modern day slavery. They are deceived into
giving
up their freedoms with false promises of good jobs and better lives,
and are
then forced to work under brutal and inhuman conditions.
Women
are mainly forced into
the sex trade industry, prostitution, and all forms of pornography.
Children
are put into the sex industry and forced labor. Men are made to work in
forced
labor and for body organs. All victims experience extreme exploitation
and intense physical and
psychological abuse at the hands of their traffickers.
They
have no place to turn.
They are afraid of authorities, because often they are told lies about
what the
authorities will do. They fear the authorities more than their captors.
All
forms of identification are taken away and most have entered the
country
illegally, being told the traffickers would secure the proper papers
for them,
but they never do. They are threatened with death and they are told
their families
back home will be killed. They do not speak the language of the country
they have been taken to, so they can not ask for help.
For some their only compensation is staying alive. Others are told that
they must pay a
debt to the ones that brought them here, but the debt only grows and is
rarely
ever paid off.
Reaching
and restoring these
people is what God has called us to do. We endeavor to provide a safe
place for
these victims and training so they can live a life free from
the bonds of slavery.
