When Tammy visited Thailand in November 2008,
she had an opportunity to tour a pediatric medical
center located just a few blocks from our apartment.
The director of this medical center explained the
view that Buddhist people sometimes have
concerning disabled children. She explained that in
Buddhism, a child born with a disability is believed
to be receiving their just rewards for evil they did in
a past life.

The director has asked Tammy if she and Rebecca
can come to the medical center and establish a
support group for families dealing with disabilities.
Tammy explained that we are Christian missionaries
and we would be talking to the families about Christ.
The director had no objections to this. In fact, she
offered to provide meeting space and all necessary
resources. Her only requirement is that Tammy and
Rebecca help these families to discover the value
and worth that exists within their children.
Through this outreach, Tammy and Rebecca are
going to be able to share the love of Jesus with those
who might otherwise be looked down upon by others
in their community.
